Tim Haywood explains ‘good business’ at edie LIVE

“From my perspective, the business case for sustainability is such a strong one, why wouldn’t a board or a finance director see the merits in all of the various elements that make up that case?”

Edie-LIVE---FEATURE

On 17 May 2016 Interserve group finance director and head of sustainability, Tim Haywood, presented at edie LIVE – the annual event celebrating sustainable business, attracting some of the key influencers for more responsible organisations in the UK.

Featuring seminars, conferences and exhibits, edie LIVE is the flagship event in the UK business calendar focusing on energy, sustainability and resource efficiency insight, inspiration and expertise.

In a special podcast for edie.net, Tim spoke to Luke Nicholls to give his take on all things sustainability.

Tim talks about his unique position in being the only finance director and head of sustainability in the FTSE 250, what ‘good business’ means and how senior leaders need to see the value in sustainability and champion it at the highest level, among other things.

Tim not only helped devise our SustainAbilities plan in 2013, but has been a major part in its success to date and continues to be an advocate for continuously improving the business to be more sustainable in every area. Earlier this year, Interserve won the Achievement in Sustainability award at the PLC Awards. Tim also sits on the Business in the Community (BITC) enterprise leadership team and is the champion of our work in Yorkshire to grow social enterprises through the BITC arc programme. We plan to create 1,000 new jobs by 2020.

You can listen to or download the podcast here. Tim’s interview starts at 19:06.
